Mushroom bag with contemporary artwork with FSC logo and recycled content print on the back
Supermarkets and consumers are turning away from plastic bags and many are now looking at paper produce bags for their mushrooms and other veggies.
Ribbed brown kraft paper produce bags with side gusset, made from recycled paper. We supply supermarkets as well as independent fruit and vegetable grocer stores all over New Zealand with our mushroom bags. Bags keep mushrooms fresher for longer.
Let your customers store mushrooms correctly. Storing mushrooms in plastic bags prevents the mushrooms from breathing and causes rapid growth of bacteria. Mushrooms are in their own Fungal kingdom, which is completely separate from the plant kingdom. Many plants can be stored in plastic bags easily for many days before rotting but mushrooms need to breathe to remain viable for human consumption. Mushrooms need to breathe when stored, slowly drying out rather than conserving moisture. Some grocery stores offer plastic bags for customers to take mushrooms home in but you should never store mushrooms in a plastic bag. If you are at the grocery store or farmers market be sure to put your mushrooms into a paper bag for storage.
The bags are FSC® certified. FSC certification tracks the wood from the forest to the shelf, so when you see the FSC label on a product you can be sure that the paper or timber came from responsible sources. FSC’s “tick tree” logo is used to indicate that products are certified under the FSC system. When you see the FSC logo on a label, you can buy forest products with confidence that you are helping to ensure our forests are alive for generations to come.
